Probably a jubilee celebration of some sort. Mrs Clark set up the rural in Alford, which is one of the oldest in Aberdeenshire.

Alford SWRI is still going strong - It celebrates its 90th birthday in Feb. 2010! The Muir of Alford SWRI closed some 8 or 9 years ago.
