I note that you've dated this photograph as being 1930. However, I've studied it several times and would date it as having been taken during the mid to late 1950's due to the presence of the following buildings, all of which were built during that decade. On the left bottom corner can be clearly seen the two Scottish Agricultural Industries (SAI) storage warehouses and to their right on its own at the edge of McHardy's field is the bus garage. Immediately below the SAI buildings and adjacent to St Andrews Church yard can be seen a small bungalow immediately to the left of the house which used to be the home of Mr & Mrs Frank Taberner. Following her husband's death, Mrs Taberner sub-divided her property and had the smaller house built which she herself moved into while her old home was bought by a retired farmer, Mr Coutts. On the right of the photograph showing the railway station and yard, three prefabricated buildings to the right of the main station building can be clearly seen. Those were also built during the 1950's.

Thanks Forbes, that is invaluable evidence. Many of these photographs came without dates, or with someone's guess at a date, so to have such a well argued case for a more precise date is just what is needed. Well done, and more please....I'm sure that there are other errors on the website...date duly altered.
