Kemp grave at Leochel Cushnie
Taken in Loechel Cushnie kirk yard in 2002. One of the last owners of the Craigievar woolmill descended from Peter Kemp and Margaret Smith.

This headstone reminds me of the great Kemp mystery - Ann Forbes was married to Alexander Taylor Kemp b.1844 but he is not on this stone. In fact there is no record of his death in the UK in the following 60 years - I have checked!. He is reputed to have signed over 'his mills' to his sons and deserted his wife for one of his mill hands. This tale has come down through several branches of the family but no-one knows what became of him/them. I assume they may have emigrated ?
