Tombstone at West Kirk, Alford

The inscription says:

GEORGE MELVIE MINISTER OF

ALFORD WHO DEPARTED

THES LYEF UPON

THE 14 DAY OF NOV

1678

The present church building dates from 1804, so it would appear that the tablet originally covered a grave elsewhere in the kirkyard or kirk itself.
