Whitehouse
Apparently there was a fairly devastating fire here in the late 1930s after which it was rebuilt.

Thanks Doreen, you've got me thinking now. I was aware that the Whitehouse at Whitehouse suffered a fire in the 1930s and had assumed that, although there are some similarities to the present day house, any differences might have been due to this fire or simply to the passage of time. I am due to visit Capt. Farquharson shortly and will check with him, but in the meantime, can anyone else confirm these points?

On reflection, I think this may be the correct Whitehouse. I was not aware of any fire there.
