Comments:
The house above the car was owned by my Great Aunt Williamina McLennan, who bought it in 1948. It was a 17-1/2 acre croft which my father, Robert Watt inherited from his aunt who died in 1975 aged 95. Before she bought it, her late husband, Alexander McLennan worked the croft (see photographs of ploughing with horse & bullock, harvesting corn with his mother Janet McLennan & Mrs Stephens a neighbour). Before Williamina & Alexander took over the working of the croft it was leased by my Great Grandparents Francis & Jane Watt. Francis was the son of George Watt (Farmer of Lumphanan) & Jane Dunn. Francis' wife Jane was the daughter of James Cruickshank & Jane Williams who owned the General Store at Park Hill, Lumphanan.

I am seeking further information concerning Roderick McLennan, an older brother of my G.G.Grandfather, Kenneth McLennan whose family came originally from Strathconon. Kenneth and two of his siblings emigrated to South Australia in the 1850s. Roderick and another brother, John McLennan had moved to Tough around the 1830-40 as young men and were employed as roadworkers. Roderick McLennan remained in Tough, married Ann King and raised a family. John McLennan moved to Inverurie. His elder son, Alexander Inverurie McLennan emigrated to Victoria, joining his McLennan uncles and aunt. I am most interested in the photo of the croft which had been worked by Alexander McLennan and would like to know more of that branch of the family.
